Savor the Small Wins: A Morning Walk Reminder
My daughter has the most beautiful curly hair. She takes her time caring for it—choosing the right products, following a routine, using a diffuser, and even alternating products to see what works best. Her curls are soft, defined, and full of life.
I have the same curly hair. But let’s just say... I do not put in the same effort. I grab whatever shampoo is around, maybe throw in some conditioner if I remember, and air-dry. The results? Well, let’s just say my curls don’t quite look like hers (that’s why I’m missing from this picture).
We have the same foundation—similar hair, same potential—but the difference is in the time, care, and consistency she puts in. And that got me thinking: Business works the same way.
There’s No Shortcut to Growth
We live in a world that loves quick fixes. The promise of overnight success, instant results, one-size-fits-all solutions—it’s tempting to want a fast track to success.
But just like curly hair, a business doesn’t thrive on shortcuts. It takes time to figure out what works, to test different approaches, to build something strong and lasting.
Trial, Error, and Finding What Works
What works for one business won’t necessarily work for another. Just like my daughter experiments with different products to find the right mix for her curls, businesses need to go through a process of trial and error:
Marketing strategies – What message resonates with your audience? It takes testing.
Customer relationships – What makes your clients feel valued? You learn over time.
Operational processes – What’s the best workflow? Adjustments are needed.
The best results don’t come from rushing. They come from learning, adjusting, and being patient with the process.
Consistency is Key
One deep-conditioning treatment won’t magically fix years of neglect, and one great business decision won’t guarantee long-term success. It’s about consistency—putting in the effort regularly, not just when things start to go wrong.
Sticking to your mission and values.
Showing up for your customers, even on slow days.
Investing in your team’s growth and well-being.
Refining your services and improving based on feedback.
Success isn’t built in a day. It’s built in the daily habits, the routines, and the willingness to keep improving.
The Right Effort Pays Off
When my daughter steps out with her perfectly defined curls, you can tell the effort was worth it. She figured out what works for her, stuck with it, and now enjoys the results.
It’s the same with business. When you take the time to build a strong foundation, to learn from mistakes, and to put in the work, the results will show. Not instantly. But they will come.
So the next time you feel frustrated that things aren’t moving fast enough, remember the curly hair lesson: The best things take time. Keep showing up, keep putting in the effort, and one day, you’ll see the results were worth every step.
